1 Sauce Pan
4 Dessert Bowls
- 4 tbsp Ovaltine/ any chocolate flavored drink mix
- 2 tbsp Maida/ All Purpose Flour
- 1 ½ cup Whole Milk
- ½ cup Sugar
- Salt a small pinch
- 1 tsp Instant coffee powder
- ½ cup Water
- 1 ½ tsp Vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp Butter
Toppings:
- Whipped cream, Roasted Nuts, Fruits or Berries
Boil water in sauce pan and add instant coffee powder to make the coffee mix. Set aside and allow this to cool.
In another pan add chocolate drink mix, all-purpose flour, salt and sugar. Pour milk and coffee mix alternatively into the dry ingredients. Whisk the mixture very well with no lumps in it.
Cook this chocolate mixture over stove top on medium heat. Stir continuously, otherwise it will stick to the bottom and lumps will form.
Cook till the mixture starts to thicken. Then lower the heat to medium low and cook until it thickens to a pancake or idli batter consistency. It thickens more when it cools off.
Turn off the heat and combine it with butter and vanilla essence. Allow the pudding to cool off a little.
Transfer the pudding to a serving dish/ bowl when it is warm.
Cover and refrigerate it for 2 to 4 hours or overnight.
Serve chilled with your favorite toppings. ENJOY
- You can substitute chocolate drink mix with unsweetened cocoa powder.
- If the mixture has lumps or it came out lumpy, sieve it through a mesh sieve. This helps the texture to be smooth.
